The “Unités d’habitation de grandeur conforme” advocated by Le Corbusier involves the problem of spatial configuration of high complexity. This paper simulates the solution to this problem through a template collage experiment driven by integer programming, and explicates the relationship between integer programming and Le Corbusier’s design ideas in terms of modular, scale and quantities, to shed lights on Le Corbusier’s use of mathematics and discover the unique value of architects.
